ATHLETIC is one of the words that will come to mind when
comparing the new BMW 5-Series to its predecessor. The
kidney grill on the front and the air dam is bigger, the bonnet
evokes a stronger silhouette, and on the side are short over-
hangs, with an elongated silhouette and a line that highlights
the slightly arched rear wheel panel.
While looking similar to the 7-Series, the new 5-Series is
sportier than ever with the hint of the BMW M model. The
car’s beauty is not just skin deep, it is also outstanding in
performance, comfort and convenience. The new 5-Series is
equipped with the latest technologies from BMW, including
the latest autonomous driving features.
The new 5-Series is the seventh generation of the mod-
el. And the 5-Series is known as one of the most successful
executive sedans ever sold with almost eight million units
sold worldwide since the first model was launched in 1972.
BMW designed the car to be the most innovative sedan in
its class. Forbes Indonesia had the chance to sample the car
before its local launch this August in a test drive in Tokyo
last May, driving from BMW’s Tokyo Bay showroom to the
Chiba area.
