‘Behind Our Anxiety, the Fear of Being
Unneeded’ (May). Some of my friends are on
Facebook and check it almost every minute to
see how many ‘likes’ they have. When they get
‘liked’ they are delighted, but when they get
‘disliked’ they get mad. This is self-centred
behaviour: if they really wanted to feel needed,
they could volunteer to help people in need,
instead of focusing on meaningless numbers
