SEINFELD, 1989-98, TOM’S RESTAURANT,
NEW YORK, USA It may look like just
another unassuming New York diner on
Broadway, but this is the place where
George Costanza was inspired to become
his opposite, where Jerry Seinfeld worked
out the semiotics of pie sharing, and where
four friends devised a contest that would
test their mastery of their domains. It’s a bit
like how Seinfeld was supposed to be a show
about nothing, but turned out to be one of
the great philosophical texts of our time.

MAD MAX 2,1981, SILVERTON,
NSW, AUSTRALIA Welcome
to Silverton, population around

  1. Either there’s something
about the light here, or it looks
like the very definition of a
    typical Australian outback
    township, because films
    including The Adventures of
    Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
    (1994), Wake in Fright (1971)
and Mad Max 2 were all shot in
    and around it.
