Author Biographies


Alison L. Baileyis Professor of Human Development and Psychology at UCLA. Bailey is a
developmental psycholinguist working on issues germane to linguistic and educational develop-
ment. She serves on the National Assessment of Educational Progress Standing Committee on
Reading and the Classroom Assessment Taskforce of the National Council on Measurement in
Education.


Margaret Heritagejoined WestEd as Senior Scientist in October 2014 after 12 years as an
Assistant Director at the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student
Testing, UCLA. Heritage’s current work focuses primarily on formative assessment and
innovative ways to support teachers’classroom assessment practice.
