HOME-GROWN ON STAGE
The eighth edition of the Skechers Sundown Festival will see the locally
produced music festival feature a line up of local artists this year on 5
August. In the past eight years, close to 100 artistes from all over Asia
have come to Singapore to perform on one stage at the Sundown
Festival to celebrate the diversity of Asian culture and music. Notable
participating artistes have included Show Luo from Taiwan in 2011, and
FT Island from South Korea in 2009, when the founders first organised
the festival in Singapore. This year, six home-grown names will join
together on stage to showcase the diversity of music from Singapore.
Chill out to the smooth tunes of Mando-pop singer Derrick Hoh; rock
out to indie rock band FARRAGO and pop/rock band The Summer State;
sway to the acoustic souls of Jack & Rai; and sing along to the catchy
tunes of veteran artiste Jason Chung and singer-songwriter Ling Kai.
Tickets are on sale at sundownfestival.sg

A celebration of ’10 Magical Years’
awaits festivalgoers to this year’s
Singapore Night Festival, one of
Asia’s most anticipated annual
outdoor nocturnal celebrations.
This year’s festival will see a
stellar line-up of artists with
strong support by local artists
that have anchored past editions.
The festival kicks off on 18 August
with the annual Night Lights, an
enthralling showcase of light art
installations. It culminates in
three evenings from 24-26
August of world-class artists,
roving acts and exciting
performances.
This year’s Singapore Night
Festival will be a homecoming of
sorts as it welcomes back 10 local
artists and artist groups who have
grown with the festival over the
years. Returning favourites
include Bloco Singapura who
wowed crowds with their
infectious energy and bold beats.
Look forward also to multi-
disciplinary performance arts
group, Starlight Alchemy, which
has enraptured audiences with
stunning fire and acrobatic
performances in previous years.
This year, they return with a
geometric and reflective outdoor
installation inspired by American
architect, Buckminster Fuller and
Dutch graphic artist, M.C. Escher.
Peranakan Sayan will take to the
Main Stage on Armenian Street to
show off their sweet vocals
through contemporised
Peranakan songs in an interactive
sing-along session of golden
oldies and hilarious parodies.
