The meticulously restored hotel along the Singapore River recently
reopened this January after its first construction in 1895. Strategically
planted along the Straits of Malacca trade route, it was also central to
secret societies, underground activity and liquor distilleries right in
the heart of the then red-light district in the city. Now, the hospitable
abode offers classic local dishes, craft cocktails, access to a rooftop
infinity pool and minimalistic, sleekly designed rooms. Inspired by the
men who first constructed the building and their entrepreneurial
endeavours, the 37-room boutique hotel collaborates with local
designers and producers reflecting the perfect intermingling of
heritage and celebration of local culture.

CHECK IT OUT: Swing by the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Po. It is inspired by a
refined modern Singaporean concept, presenting an array of local classics and
elevated Singaporean staples featuring popiah, smoky satay, rendang and
spiced hot teas with a twist. Bringing a modern Singapore spin on traditional
flavours, it’s also worthy to note that the Chef and partner Willin Low (founder
of Wild Rocket, ranked number 38 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016) crafted
the menu personally! Alternatively, head to the bar for “Kaya Lumpur” and
“Kopi Cat”, innovative drinks with local twists to tingle your tastebuds.

RATE: from £325++/night
