Randeep Singh spent a week
exploring Panama
I travelled thousands of
miles to visit the UNESCO-
listed Parque Internacional
La Amistad, the largest
nature reserve in Central
America. I had an amazing
day in the wild, spotting
many bird species I didn’t
expect to see, including
lots of hummingbirds in
action. Zipping here and
there and filling the air
with the humming of their
wings, they were nearly
impossible to follow. I
decided to wait near some
flowers, and when a green
violet-ear approached, I
managed to capture this
photo of the beautiful bird,
less than 15cm tall. This
picture brings back fond
memories of Panama, and
the nearly 150 bird species
I was lucky enough to see.
