national museum celebrates the life of Sheikh
Zayed, father of the UAE, with photographs,
documents, and personal belongings. Pritzker
Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster
has taken inspiration from the wings of the
falcon to design the fi ve towers of the museum.
Performing Arts Centre Zaha Hadid’s
project in Abu Dhabi includes this 62-metre
building with fi ve theatres, an opera house,
a concert hall, and theatres.

MASDAR CITY
Green is the future for
Abu Dhabi. Designed by
British architecture fi rm
Foster+Partners, the low-
carbon Masdar City is being
developed with eco-villas that
save water and energy,
a robust transportation system
to encourage people to walk,
use bicycles, or take driverless
shuttles, a solar power plant,
and a 148-foot wind tower.
With offi ces, shops, and
residences clustered together,
the future 40,000 residents
will live and work in the
six-square-kilometre radius,
reducing travel time and fuels.
