Aquascaping with Marimo—
A Shrimp and Lake Ball Marimo Biotope
article & images by Steven Waldron • I’ve always had a hard time
taking the Marimo Ball seriously. Those hairy green balls of Cladophora
algae have always seemed more like a cheesy creature out of a bad
1960s sci-fi movie than a plant deserving of attention in a serious
aquascape. Everyone take cover in the fallout shelter, a horde of Marimo
Balls has descended upon us from outer space!
A Cherry Shrimp lagoon: Seriyu stone, branch wood, bright
cosmetic sand, and Marimo Balls in various sizes.
