End Airport is closed to flights on
Sundays, so there is a better chance
of finding birds using the airfield on
that day.

In the valley
In Nanquidno itself, wheatears, pipits,
larks and wagtails can all occur in
good numbers. Among these, rarer

species such as Short-toed Lark and
Richard’s and Red-throated Pipits
are all possible.
The upper part of the valley is
heavily wooded and roaming mixed
tit flocks often contain Firecrest
and Yellow-browed and Pallas’s
Warblers. Spotted, Pied and Red-
breasted Flycatchers have all been

recorded in the sycamores and oaks
in this area.
As the valley approaches the
seaward end , the vegetation
becomes more rugged, with gorse and
blackthorn dominating the slopes. It
is worth spending time scrutinising
every movement in this scrub as it is
sometimes favoured by Wryneck,
