The US-based Axalta Coating Systems,
a leading global supplier of liquid and
powder coatings, has opened its expanded
Technology Centre at Savli in Vadodara
in Gujarat, India. The automotive coatings
laboratory at the centre will develop
special paint formulations to ensure
superior colour match, aesthetics and
quality. It has also a colour laboratory.
Axalta established its India business in- It operates a manufacturing plant
in Vadodara with offices and regional
training centres in Gurugram, Mumbai,
Kolkata and Bengaluru. Axalta has an
extensive product distribution network
across the country. The new coatings
laboratory has contemporary robotic
spray applicators that can precisely
replicate line application conditions
inside a customer’s manufacturing plant.
The equipment is designed to facilitate
development, approval, quality control,
and the line support required by the
automotive OEM customers. It has also
colour measurement tools and accelerated
paint testing equipment. “As customers in
India evolve in their demands and upgrade
paint shops and create a need for these
kinds of systems, the technical team in
the new technology centre has access
to global expertise and solutions that
they can tailor and bring to customers
across India,” Barry Snyder, Senior Vice
