The Tamil Nadu Technology Development & Promotion Center of CII is
organizing the 3rd Edition - Conference on Automotive Design & Styling
with the theme “Design & Styling in India - Emerging Market” on 13th
October 2017 at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, India. This would be an
initiative to discuss the current and future trends in automotive design with
focus on the Indian perspective, and the unique drivers from the viewpoint
of the Indian ecosystem; this will offer an opportunity for stakeholders to
establish synergy in the special area of interest.


The key objectives of the conference are to:



  • Serve as a knowledge platform to discuss on design and styling
    trends in automotive sector with a Global / Local standpoint.

  • Discuss emerging technologies that support design and innovation
    and offer higher freedom to today’s designers while not
    compromising on QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery)

  • Discuss, create, imagine, debate a design-rich ecosystem that
    ensures sustainability and profitability

  • Understand new business models for products and services enabled
    by novel design.

  • Aid government agencies in the development of effective policy and
    provisions for design resources / infrastructure

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing for various stakeholders in the product
    design ecosystem.


The proposed sessions for the conference are as follows:


Plenary Session I: Design & Styling Paradigm – India’s Roadmap 2030
Session Brief : This session shall aim to discuss on understanding the
scenario and technologies driving next generation vehicular design
concepts, its need and purpose in India. This session will include evolving
vehicular concepts based on design language in-sync with changing
styling and aesthetic preferences of customers. Styling, design trends and
enabling technologies to keeps pace with escalating customer
expectations in comfort, convenience and ergonomics.


Plenary Session-II: Concept to Proto - Using Emerging Technology


Session Brief : This session shall focus on the key factors that would make
Indian industries become a global hub for futuristic concept design prove
out leveraging emerging prototyping technologies. This will help the
automotive community to realise new style concepts efficiently and cost
effectively throughout the automotive product development life cycle.


Plenary Session III: Innovation, Business Opportunity and Returns


Session Brief : This session shall discuss on the opportunities and
challenges looming for the automobile industry in the future as people are
increasingly using multiple modes of transport, depending on the purpose
and destination, so the road ahead for mobility cannot be mapped out by
one industry alone.
Panel Discussion: Future Mobility Design Challenges for Growing
Market


Session Brief : This topic would be in-line with discussions going on
elsewhere globally and it is very apt for Indian industry too. This would be a


great topic to kick start interesting discussions between industry experts
and policy makers and the outcome would be to communicate the
forthcoming challenges and to equip the audience for new challenges that
lay ahead and not get caught off-guard.
