Euglah Rock walk, a short easy walk which
takes you to a viewing platform which overlooks
the spectacular volcanic rock formation named
Euglah Rock.
From Bark Hut campground it is a further
6km drive to the Mount Kaputar plateau. Mount
Kaputar is 1510meters above sea level so you will
feel the difference in temperature at the top. The
day we drove to the plateau it was snowing and the
viewing platform was covered in a thick layer of
ice. The trees were covered in ice which was quite
hazardous as it came showering from the trees in
the larger gusts of wind. Although we did not get
to experience the amazing views from the top we
did experience an amazing winter wonderland with
the fun of playing in the snow and ice.
Mount Kaputar peak is in the southern
section of the National Park, in the northern
section of the park is Sawn Rocks. From
Narrabri travel north along the Bingara-
Narrabri Road for 30km to the carpark of the
Sawn Rocks walk. The walk is an easy 1.5km
walk along the creek and on a boardwalk to
the incredible geological rock formation known
as organ-piping. Slices of rock over the years
have fallen from the rustic coloured rock face
and the boulders in the small stream with the
moss growth on them create such an impressive
contrast, this place is defi nitely worth a visit.
A week is never long enough to explore the
natural wonders of north western country
NSW. Discovering the amazing volcanic rock
formations that have been around for millions
of years, enjoying camping at its best with
great facilities and uninterrupted night sky
views while relaxing around the campfi re. Both
the Warrambungle National Park and Mount
Kaputar National park will not disappoint. Q
