  1. 240V POWER

Having 240V power will add a heap of
comfort, especially on extended trips. But
one thing that’s often overlooked is how
having 240V power can actually save you
money. It does this by allowing you to bring
electrical accessories from home instead
of purchasing alternative 12V compatible
equipment such as battery chargers, cooking
gear and the like.

INVERTERS

240V power inverters basically convert the
12V power from your camper’s battery into
usable 240V power. A simple DIY installation
means they’re cheap to install while their
compact design makes them equally suitable
as portable power supply units. For sensitive
electrical equipment such as laptops and
televisions, a pure sine wave inverter reduces
the chance of damaging your equipment from
voltage spikes although this option can be
more expensive than basic models. However,
they’re not ideal for high power appliances
which will deplete your batteries. But if
gaining quiet and non intrusive 240V power
is what you’re after, a 240V inverter could be
your best bet.

always enjoy your electrical devices

GENERATORS

The trusty generator has been powering up
the family campsite for years, but their noisy
and fuel thirsty reputation could make you
think twice before purchasing one for yourself.
These days generators are much quieter and
much more effi cient making them a viable
option around camp. As the engines can be
quite effi cient, they can produce a higher
power output than most other products which
makes them great for powering up those
power hungry devices such as large camp
lights, microwaves or ovens.

Average Price Range: $1000 - $2000

240V MAINS POWER

One option that’s often overlooked is to actually
hard-wire a 240V electrical circuit with a couple of
power points into your camper trailer. This gives
you instant access to 240V power whenever you’re
near a mains power point. The downside is that
240V mains power is rarely available when camping
outside caravan parks and as the actual installation
of 240V circuits must be carried out by a licensed
electrician, it can be hard to fi nd an electrician with
experience in camper trailers. But if you often fi nd
yourself camping at caravan parks with powered
campsites available it could be an affordable and
simple method of powering your campsite.
