Kewl Whip
Jason has always been a stickler for the small details, and
began adding them one by one. Starting with the seats, he began
wrapping them in a custom tan shade of Alea leather that had
black stitching to accent the existing stock dash and door panel
colors. Next up, the stereo which he chose to do in full Audison
products from the speakers, tweeters, and components to the
10-inch subwoofer. All of that, as well as the wiring and Kenwood
head unit, were installed by Pig at Solar Pro Tint N Tunes. Jason
added Dynamat sound deadener into all the cab and door panels
to secure the perfection of his sound quality. He even added a
custom sunroof to give it yet another one-off touch, which few
people would catch upon first glance.
Moving to the exterior of this 3-inch body-dropped beauty,
you can see the stripes done by Nick Rodriguez. These are no
standard new-school airbrushed stripes, as Jason will tell you
proudly. The stripes were hand painted by Nick just like they used
to back in the day, according to Jason. It is a simple, yet perfectly
clean, contrast on the white exterior. The third brake light was
shaved, as were the tailgate handle and gas cap door on the bed
side. The headlights were retro fitted with a custom-molded-in
LED set, not only for looks but to brighten up those long, dark
late-night drives. Add in the built 5.3 V-8 and the massive 16-inch
Wilwood brakes, and it is obvious why this truck is such an
enjoyable driver. No bodied truck would be the same without the
right wheels, though. The wheel choice often makes the look of
the truck. Jason chose to run a set of 26x9 and 26x12-inch Intro
Artic wheels. Intro has always been notorious for looking great
skating low across the pavement, and this set definitely holds true.
This truck has been to shows near and far, including some of
Jason’s favorite ones. He has attended, as well as won awards, at
LST, Slamboree, Midwest Dragfest, and SEMA inside of last year.
Special thanks go out to Nick Rodriguez, Mike Perez, his beautiful
wife Amy Sandusky, Nick Wolenman, Pig, Jake McKiddie at Phat
Phabz, Grant Cox, Justin Kaluei, Pete Dutzel, Shawn Walsh, Brady
Wilson, Negative Camber, and anyone else who has had a part in
this truck thus far.
