BRAVO

to Shot in the Dark
(Netflix), the addictive
true-crime series following three
rival freelance video journalists
scouring the streets of LA for hot
news footage. If you like the 2014
thriller Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal as an
unscrupulous stringer, then you’re going to dig this
show which sheds more light on this vocation and
how it affects their lives. “In a crash, you gotta get
the victim. With a fire, the flames. With a pursuit, you
need the car coming past you,” explains one stringer.
When they aren’t racing in their cars from one crime
scene to another in exhilarating sequences that look
like Fast & Furious outtakes, they’re busy badmouthing
one another. It’s a cutthroat business, man.

BRAVO

to The Tonight Show
Starring Jimmy Fallon
(Tue-Sat, E!, Singtel TV Ch 328
&StarHub Ch 441). In a recent ep,
the host challenged his guest, Jerry

to Curb Your
Enthusiasm (HBO
on Demand, StarHub Ch 602) for
showing us where the best place
to hold a negotiation is. In ‘The

musical. Larry thinks it has something to do with him
sitting in the lounge area while Miranda is behind a
big desk. “It’s the power of the desk,” says Larry.
“He’s up high. I’m down low. Everything he says, I say
‘yes’ to. He’s in the boss’ chair. It’s like, it’s like he’s
my boss.” So if you want a better bargaining position,
never let the other party sit behind the desk.

by a generator. It isn’t so much a battle, but a
comedian’s answer to karaoke. So instead of singing
along to a music video, the players act out famous
monologues, and in this case, it’s Fallon hilariously
trying to do his best impersonation of Seinfeld,
replete with the latter’s signature high-pitched, shout-y
voice. Of course, no one can out-Seinfeld Seinfeld but
Seinfeld himself.
