Yiyuan’s mother witnesses

Back at home, Xiuzi
decides to get her hometown
friend to find out more about
Yiyuan’s mother.
Xiuzi is adamant about
Yuzhen marrying Yiyuan.
She is sure Yiyuan’s family
will buy a house and build
a hospital for him. She is
even willing to go down on
her knees for her son’s
sake. Yuzhen is sad that his
mother would disregard her

Yuzhen finally breaks up with
Yiyuan. He doesn’t want his
parents’ life to be miserable
on his account.
Yiyuan berates her
mother for interfering in her
life. Her mother slaps her
in a rage. Yiyuan warns her
to stay quietly by her father,
and to not even think about
taking over One’s.
Wancai quits his job. He
assures Xiuzi he will look for
another one.
Zhengshu forbids her son
to see Xizhen. If he insists,
he is to hand over his car
keys and credit card. Yuncan
complies, and leaves in a
huff. Yunjing is certain he will
return home as he has never
experienced poverty.
Yuncan goes to pickXizhen up on a bicycle. He
shares that he has lost
everything, and all he has
now is his love for her. She is
deeply touched.
Yuzhen’s senior tells
Yiyuan that Yuzhen has
been deeply affected by the
rumour about One’s pulling
the strings for his promotion.
Yuzhen has always been
a proud person, and is
burdened by the gossip.
Yiyuan is frustrated that she
wasn’t aware of how Yuzhen
really felt.
Yuzhen refuses to answer
Yiyuan’s calls. She calls
Xiuzi, who promises to try to
talk him out of breaking up.
Wancai takes Zhufeng
to a film shoot. This time,
Zhufeng has to act as a dead
person and have his portrait
used for a funeral scene.
Yuncan kneels outside
Zhengshu’s room. She
refuses to see him.
Xizhen visits Zhengshu
at her house. She attempts
to be gentle and virtuous, to
win her approval. Zhengshu
changes her view of Xizhen.
Haixiu nearly drowns
in an attempt to save a
child. Yuzhen manages to
rescue her in the nick of
time. He performs mouth-
to-mouth resuscitation, thenpiggybacks her home. He
complains she is too heavy,
but she is secretly thrilled
and clings onto his back.
Wancai and Zhufeng
bring the funeral portrait
home. Wancai is worried his
mother won’t be pleased, but
Zhufeng says he is happy to
be an extra. He encourages
Wancai to pursue acting as a
career.
Xiuzi’s hometown friend
tells Xiuzi that Yiyuan’s
mother wasn’t born rich, as
