Aotian eventually scores a
victory. Zhenyue is bent on
revenge.
Though Guisheng advises
Jintang to eliminate Zhenyue,
he doesn’t listen. Guisheng
has no choice but to plot
to kill Zhenyue herself. Her
effort fails, and her cousin
dies instead.
Paramount opens for
business. Fiori is keenly
interested in the club. Aotian
not only has to listen to
Jintang’s drunken laments,
but take him home too.
Zhijing is sexually
assaulted by Jintang while
helping him clean up.
Guisheng feels responsible
and guilty. Jintang shows no
remorse whatsoever, and
blames Guisheng.
Aotian discovers Zhenyue
has more than 100 boxes of
opium slated to be shipped
north. Jintang points out
that it’s impossible for them
to contend with the whole
army because Xuzhou is
Commander Zhou’s territory.
Jintang makes it clear he
wants to travel to Hangzhou
to attend a meeting. As
such, Aotian goes to have
a word with him. Guisheng
meets him in Jintang’s
stead, and suddenly comes
to realise it was Aotian who
taught Jintang how to please
her.

10pm Episode 20
Watching Aotian, Wenlong
comes away with the
mistaken impression that
he has fallen in love with
Shuying.
Aotian learns about
an upcoming transaction
between Zhenyue and the
subordinates of Commander
Zhou. He suggests they
pretend to be militants, so
as to be able to steal the
opium.
Exchanging fire with
Zhenyue and his team,
Aotian comes across another
troop. He even catches a
glimpse of Xiaoshan.
Guisheng is hosting a
celebration party. Aotian
accidentally bursts into her
bedroom at night. Jintang
happens to be returning
home, and is infuriated to
find Aotian walking out of
her bedroom.
On behalf of Aotian,
Guisheng proposes
marriage to Shuying.
Guisheng suggests
establishing a new
company to deal in opium,
adding that they should put
Aotian in charge. Jintang
objects.
Xiaoshan tells Aotian
that Commander Zhou has
agreed to help Jintang and
wants a share of the action
as well.
For Qihong’s sake,
Jintang inflicts severe
injuries on someone who
turns out to be the son of
the Military Governor.THUR NOV 9
10pm Episode 21
After Jintang offends the
son of the Military Governor,
his businesses are
subject to unannounced
inspections every day and
his pier is sealed off.
Planning to burst
into the Chinese Sector
forcefully, Jintang gathers
his men. Guisheng stops
him from proceeding.
Instead, she goes so far
as to act on his behalf in
negotiations.
Guisheng asks Aotian
to approach Xiaoshan for
help. She hopes Xiaoshan
will be able to persuade the
Commander to withdraw
the troops from the sealed
pier.
Jintang meets with
Xiaoshan to discuss setting
up a new company. Xiaoshan
subsequently renames it
San Keng Company.
Aotian returns home
late at night. Shuying
wails and complains he is
neglecting her.
