KUGLER
AGE: 21
FINDING HIS ROOTS:Etienne Kugler may be
French-Singaporean, but he can speak neither
French nor Chinese. The 21-year-old, who was
born here, spent his childhood studying in
international schools in Penang and
Cambodia, where he only learnt and
spoke English. The good-looker,
who completed his National
Service in August, says:
“I'm a little ashamed
that I can't speak
my mother tongues
(laughs). It's been fine
in Singapore so far,
as people can speak
English. However, if
I'm planning to work
in Taiwan or China
in the future, I'd
probably pick up

The 1.85m, 68kg dude is
currently signed with local
modelling agency NOW
Model Management. One
of his most unforgettable
shoots was two years ago
when he was just starting
out. "We took two hours
just to get one shot,"
he shares. "I had to lie
down and arch my head
up. My neck was
uncomfortable
and my body
cramped
up. It was
really
tough, but
I had a lot

These days, Etienne
does 100 pushups
and 30 to 40 pull-ups
daily to keep fit. He also
runs to keep his stamina
up. He says: “As a model,
it's tough for me to fit into
clothes if I gym too much
as my arms would become
too big. Lean muscles
are good enough.” As for
his diet, a typical meal
includes two meats, one
veg, tofu and rice. He adds:
“I don't put on weight
easily as my metabolism
is very high, so I eat what I
feel like eating (laughs).”
