friends. She is disappointed
and hurt.
However, Ziyang soon
comes to realise he likes
Wenjie. She responds coldly
to him, and he is frustrated.
Xiaoqiao senses Ziyang
is fond of Wenjie. She calls
attention to their different
backgrounds and the issues
they could face, should they
get together.
Wenjie is distracted at
work and keeps making
mistakes. At home, she
is given the cold shoulder
by her mother and sister.
The many setbacks leave
her feeling increasingly
discouraged.
Shuqi starts working
at the hamper factory.
Due to her clumsiness,
the hampers she packs
are unsatisfactory. She is
exasperated at herself.
Yalong takes Shuqi to
a park to calm her nerves.
Her frustration is displaced
by concern over Yalong’s

Zhengye is going
on a business trip. He
asks Xiaoqiao to visit
his mother, Fuhua, when
he is not around. They
happen to overhear the
staff complaining about
the newly-installed lockers,
and Zhengye decides not to
make it compulsory for the
staff to use them.
Ziyang is troubled that
Wenjie keeps ignoring him.
He slips up, and Chen Feng
scolds him for his mistakes.
Xiaoqiao and Ziyang visit
Fuhua, who perceives that
Ziyang is depressed. She
confides in Xiaoqiao that
she is worried Ziyang will fall
for the wrong woman as his
father did.
Rashid discovers Aisha is
involved in a concert tickets
scam. He is guilt-stricken
that Xiaoyu and Jingwei
were victims. When he
learns Chen Feng is going to
compensate them, he splits
the cost with her.
Xiuqin flares up at Aisha
for cheating Chen Feng with
fake concert tickets. She
locks her up at home. Aisha
calls the police and accuses

station for interrogation
and detained for 48 hours.
Xiuqin wants Aisha to
clarify the situation but she
refuses.
Shuqi is transferred
to the food packing
department. She keeps

make a pass at her, but
Chen Feng intervenes.
People start gossiping
about Rashid. Wenjie and
Chen Feng continue to stand
by him.

Fang Ting is a junior college
Chinese teacher whose
nickname is Master Fang.
A cheerful person, she has
a unique teaching style and
is highly regarded by her
students. She has two sons,
Tang Yiwei and Tang Yijie.
Zhong Ai, the wife of the
elder son Yiwei, is also a
Chinese teacher, and Fang
Ting’s colleague. The two
of them have incessant
arguments in school due
to their different views
on teaching and handling
students.
After graduating from
secondary school, Yijie and
his friends go their separateways to polytechnics and
junior colleges. They meet
frequently at Rose Cafe.
Yijie excels in his studies
and never has to worry about
his results. He is sometimes
perceived as conceited.
Yijie’s classmate, Bai
Yun, goes the polytechnic
route. She has a bad
relationship with her mother
and stepfather, Alan.
A teacher is going
to be promoted to head
the Chinese department.
Whereas Fang Ting is
thought to be the likely
candidate, Zhong Ai is the
person chosen.
Zhong Ai has an adopted
son, Yang Xiaoshuai, who
doesn’t like to study but is
passionate about swimming.
He aspires to be the next
