Well-Being

I

f mindfulness is the practice of paying
particular attention, to the present
moment (without judgement) then
simply focusing on each in and out breath
for any length of time can be considered
being mindful. Noticing each time you sit
down, or the sensation of water on your
skin in the shower are also examples of
mindfulness.
This fully present and in the moment (in
mind and body) state, credited to Buddhism,

is now so mainstream it is big business.
It is equally strong in both the wellness
and corporate sectors, due largely to the
increasing measurable benefits.
While the benefits are not new,
what is growing is the role technology is
increasingly playing in the way we seek a
mindful state. This includes apps, wearables
and innovative spa treatments, with creators
considering technology to help, not hinder,
blissful states of consciousness.

SOUNDING OUT
Launched in September 2017 and claimed
to be the first of its kind by its collaborators,
is one of the newest ways technology
and mindfulness are merging in the spa
environment. Launched at Plateau Spa at
The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, the 60-minute
Voyage des Sens experience is the result
of a joint effort between the five-star hotel
and innovative French breakthrough sound
technology company Devialet.
