aguar Land Rover (JLR), the
British luxury marquee of Tata
Motors, has launched the fifth
generation Land Rover Discovery
to bridge a wide gap in its portfolio
in the mid-segment in India. Its price
ranges from Rs 71.38 lakh to Rs 82
lakh.


Rohit Suri, President and Managing
Director, Jaguar Land Rover India,
said: “Our Land Rover models range
from the Rs 42-lakh Discovery Sport
to the Rs 1.66-crore Range Rover,
leaving a wide gap in between. The
new Discovery fills that gap, which
should help further build onto our
high growth we have had so far this
year. The initial response has been
very good having already received
over 800 ‘interests’ in the car. We


are already booked for the first two
months.”

JLR has reported 45 per cent growth
in the first nine months of the year to
over 2,940 units selling through 25
outlets. The new SUV will be imported
from its British plant. The new model
comes in six variants.

The Land Rover range in India now
includes the Discovery Sport (starting
at Rs 42 lakh), Range Rover Evoque
(starting at Rs 44.44 lakh), the new
Discovery (starting at Rs 71.38 lakh),
Range Rover Sport (starting at Rs
93.82 lakh) and Range Rover (starting
at Rs 166.42 lakh).

In India, the new Discovery offers
headroom for seven adults across

three rows of seating. It also offers
permanent four-wheel drive. The full
size premium SUV comes with both
3-litre petrol and diesel powertrain
options and offers a host of features
such as full-sized spare wheel with
an automatic tyre lifting option and
intelligent seat fold functionality - both
industry firsts. It also boasts of the
highest wading depth of 900 mm,
which will help the vehicle wade
through flooded streets.

The new Discovery distinguishes itself
from most of its competition on its
design appeal, intelligent versatility,
enabling technology and a host of
capability-related features. It also
offers the world’s first intelligent seat
fold system enabling one to configure
the seating from inside.

‘Team India’ To Compete In BMW GS Trophy 2018

he first BMW Motorrad
International GS Trophy India
qualifier came to a close after
three days of training, riding,
adventure and a spectacular finale
on Sunday, October 29, 2017. The
qualifier had participation of 40 BMW
GS Motorcycle owners across India.


The victorious trio, Sanket Shanbhag
from Satara, Suprej Venkat from
Coimbatore and Winston Lee from
Mumbai, will represent ‘Team India’ at
the BMW Motorrad International GS
Trophy- the sixth edition of which will
take place in Mongolia in 2018.

The BMW Motorrad International
GS Trophy 2018 will be held in


Mongolia for 10 days: seven days
riding, two days in-and-outbound
journey and one-day briefing.
These lucky, talented three will be
fully equipped by BMW Motorrad
for the adventure ahead, flown to
Mongolia and each presented with
a brand new personalized BMW GS
motorcycle to ride for the duration of
the event. Team India will compete
against other teams from Argentina,
Australia, Brazil, Canada, China,
France, Germany, Japan, Latin

America, Mexico, Russia, Southeast
Asia, South Africa, South Korea,
United Kingdom and United States of
America.

The GS Trophy is not a race, but
the special stages confront the
participants with major physical and
mental challenges, often described
as the adventure of a lifetime. It is a
competition wherein riders enjoy a
near-2000km adventure ride, mostly
off-road.
