as is evident in the prominent displays of the


works of well-known and up-and-coming artists.


Aparna Pednekar takes us on an artsy tour of


six of the brand’s hotels, where brushstrokes


complement hospitality innovations.

This truism applies as much to the art
connoisseur as to the jaded traveller, who
checks into a luxury hotel away from home.
Waking up to a Günther Uecker lithograph,
dining next to a Dang Manh Ha painting, or
stopping by to marvel at a Lucio Fontana sculpture
in the lobby makes the traveller feel revitalised by
beauty and engaged with life.
The Park Hyatt brand, since the opening of its
first property in Chicago nearly 40 years ago, has
invested in and showcased world-class contemporary
art. Much of this passion is grounded in the late
Jay Pritzker’s (the group’s founder) prolific interest
and contribution to the arts and humanities.
The billionaire philanthropist, who founded the
prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1979, was
aware of the impact design and creativity has on
human behaviour. His generous patronage of the
