Airports Com-
pany South
Africa (ACSA)
has appointed
Fundi Sithebe
COO, effective
December 1.
Sithebe, cur-
rently the ACSA
chief of staff
reporting to CEO Bongani
Maseko, holds a Bachelor of
Business Administration degree
from Midrand University, and a
Postgraduate Diploma in Man-
agement (business administra-
tion) from Wits Business School.
“Sithebe has a wealth of experi-
ence, which includes companies
such as Deloitte Consulting
and FirstRand/FNB Africa. She
brings valuable capabilities in
strategy formulation and imple-
mentation, research and analy-
sis, project management and due
diligence. She played a signifi-
cant role as the protocol lead
during the 2010 FIFA World
Cup,” said Maseko in a state-
ment last week.

Industrial equip-
ment group
Goscor Access
Rental (GAR)
has appointed
industry stal-
wart Alan Will
Kwazulu-Natal
branch man-
ager, based in
Westmead, to oversee expansion
in one of the company’s high-
est-growth areas in South Africa.
Will brings 28 years’ experience
to bear on his high-profile new
role, of which 22 years were dedi-
cated to the materials handling
industry, where he was respon-

sible for forklifts of all makes and
models. This includes petrol,
diesel IC, electrical and liquefied
petroleum gas machinery.
His experience to date includes a
lengthy stint in the materials han-
dling industry. He progressed
from field service technician to
product support, key accounts
manager and ultimately nation-
al service manager. Here, he
managed important clients such
as Sasol, Shatterprufe (in Gara-
nkuwa), Spoornet, Warman
Africa, Eskom, Weir Minerals and
Telkom, among others.
Will cut his teeth as a field service
technician at Barlow Handling
in Richards Bay, working mainly
on forklifts. He was also
mechanical workshop manager
at Truck Corp Coastal Motors,
managing the service and repair
of cars and diesel trucks.
As KwaZulu-Natal branch man-
ager, Will is in charge of the daily
operations and smooth running
of all departments, as well as
realising the company’s longer-
term strategic goals.
“My ultimate aim is to grow the
business to the point where we
have a large enough customer
base to open up another branch
in the region,” he says.
Will comments that the access
rental market in KwaZulu-Natal is
booming at present, especially in
highly industrialised nodes such
as Richards Bay. “Obviously
it is how you target this market
that creates success. There are
always developments and oppor-
tunities, but you have to be pro-
active in making these happen.”
He describes his leadership style
as being hands-on and realising
the full strength and potential of
each team member.

Project management consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV continued its
winning streak at the 2017 South African Institution of Civil Engineering
National Project Awards gala dinner, which recently took place in
KwaZulu-Natal. The ePhatheni bulk water supply scheme took the Most
Outstanding Civil Engineering Community-Based Project award for
2017, while Main Road 577: The Challenge of the KwaDabeka Valley, a
joint venture between Royal HaskoningDHV and Henwood & Nxumalo,
was highly commended in the Technical Excellence Category for Most
Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement of 2017. Pictured are Royal

Footwear safety solutions provider BBF Safety Group last month
hosted customers at the Killarney Country Club, in Johannesburg, for
its annual year-end celebration. On the evening, BBF Safety Group
recognised and rewarded its top-achieving customers through an
awards ceremony. Personal protective gear manufacturer Select PPE
received the top award for being the distributor that achieved the highest
combined turnover on BBF Safety Group brands within a calendar year,
across all regions. Pictured are BBF Safety Group CEO Silvio Ceriani,

Jacky Mtshali (right), pictured here with former Bafana Bafana
Captain Neil Tovey, was the winner of the South African Football
Association (SAFA) Development Agency’s first Big Match
Fundraising competition. Jackie is a twenty-year-old football
enthusiast, who has just completed a sports management
diploma and the SAFA D Licence coaching qualification. He is
also a passionate Manchester United supporter, so his trip to
the Theatre of Dreams, in Manchester, will allow him to spend a
day behind the scenes with his club, and see them live in action.
Creamer Media partnered with the SAFA Development Agency to
facilitate this competition

Creamer Media’s Polity.org.za team recently interviewed former
Intelligence Minister Ronnie Kasrils about his new book, A Simple Man:
Kasrils and the Zuma Enigma, which traces Jacob Zuma’s character
from his exile days to being South Africa’s President. The book has
been described as a “fast-paced, thriller-style memoir”, outlining the
tumultuous years that started with Mbeki’s overthrow, leading up to the
‘State Capture’ report and Zuma’s relationship with the Guptas. Pictured
