Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve ($188), that’s
spread across all its restaurants. Guests can graze on
treats like Alaskan king crab legs, boneless marinated
short ribs, seafood stew, fresh oysters, Boston
lobsters, and a free flow of champagne, wines and
beers. It’s essentially an epic buffet stretched over an
entire hotel floor.
HOW IT WORKS: The restaurants here function
independently, so you can’t order food from one joint

  1. Auntie’s Wok And Steam
    OPEN MON-FRI NOON-2.30PM, 6PM-10PM; SAT-SUN NOON-2.30PM, 6PM-10PM. LAST
    ORDERS 2.15PM & 9.45PM.

and have it served at another. But the staff will be
happy to accommodate cocktail orders from the bar.
THE LOOK: We like meandering through the little
“alleyways” that lead from one restaurant to another. It’s like
walking through an upscale village where everyone greets you
with a smile whenever they meet your eye. Each restaurant
has its own look and feel, but they all come together in
pleasing harmony thanks to polished earth-toned floors and
wood accents, a nod to the kampong vibe it’s inspired by.

  1. Icehaus
    OPEN MON-FRI 6.30AM-10PM; SAT-SUN 7AM-10PM. LAST
    ORDERS 9.45PM.
    Think of this as
    the venue’s cold
    kitchen, where
    guests can nosh
    on snacks like
    Burrata Cheese
    with Sun-Dried
    Tomatoes, Pesto
    and Arugula
($22), Kaluga Queen Caviar with Toasted Baguette
($130 for 50g), and middling Boston Lobster Soft

Rolls ($35); we find the bread rolls too dry. This
is a great stop for dessert, though, with offerings
like the Andaz Chendol Pop ($10), a gula melaka
coconut popsicle covered in a pandan-infused white
chocolate shell made by the folks behind Neh Neh
Pop. The fluffy Pandan Chiffon Cake ($14),
enrobed in a layer of pandan
mousse and
accompanied by
a scoop of lush
vanilla soft serve is
satisfying too.

Our favourite concept here is this
rustic chic dining room fashioned
after Singapore’s hawker stalls
of yore. The menu purveys Chinese classics done
elegantly. Think Steamed Sea Bass ($25), with shao
xing rice wine and black beans, staples such as Dan
Dan Mian ($18) and Organic Fried Rice ($18),
with crabmeat, asparagus and Sarawak pepper. Our
absolute favourite dish from Alley on 25 is the Double-
Boiled Beef Short Rib Egg Noodles ($18), found
here. The cubes of short rib are stewed to melting
tenderness and float in a delicate yet beefy broth, while
the handmade noodles are springy and supple in equal
measure. Literal comfort in a bowl.
