Merry Fishmas
This Christmas, S.E.A Aquarium transforms into
a water wonderland for the holiday season, and
it’s christened Merry Fishmas. Highlights include
crowd favourite Scuba Santa and Elves, a 3.2-metre
‘fishmas’ tree made out of over 300 plastic bottles,
and the debut of one of the world’s rarest rays, the
Ornate Eagle Ray, as well as new additions like the
Argentine Humphead.

Rediscovering Treasures:
Ink Art from the Xiu Hai Lou
Collection. The largest and
most established private
collection of Chinese
painting and calligraphy
in Singapore. Founded by
the late Mr Yeo Khee Lim,
it draws on close to 100
works to offer visitors a rare
insight into the evolution of
modern Chinese painting,
featuring masterpieces
by prominent artists such
as Xu Beihong and Zhang
Daqian.

Strokes of Life: The Art
of Chen Chong Swee.
Chen Chong Swee was
an important early
Singapore artist and
educator who made
significant contributions
to the development of the
Singapore and Malaya art
scenes. This showcase
features key works from his
six decade-long career.

Wu Guanzhong: A Walk
Through Nature. This
exhibition explores 16
works which Wu painted of
China from the 1960s until
the 2000s. Join Wu on his


search for beauty — not
only via the landscape,
but also within the painted
forms in his work.

Listening to Architecture:
The Gallery’s Histories
and Transformations.
Spanning two galleries and
a connecting walkway, the
inaugural exhibition offers
insights into the histories
and architectural designs of
the two national monuments
and their transformations
into a home for Southeast
Asian art. It also features
never-before-seen artefacts
excavated from the Gallery’s
grounds.

Singaporean artist Tang
Mun Kit presents the
third iteration of his first
HIBERNATED WORKS show
20 years ago. This is his
18th solo exhibition, and
features an installation
piece titled Aftermath

of the Discipline and is
a reflection of the city’s
disciplined march towards
progress and development.

Sayang, Sarong
Baby
Using the traditional baby
hammock as a cultural icon
for interviews, this new
body of work by local
photographer Zinkie Aw
focuses on family bonding
and our shared values
by exploring memories of
the family unit. For the
first time, get to see an
upsized cloth cradle made
for an adult, as well as
vintage items and childhood
photographs contributed by
fellow Singaporeans.

Older and Wiser
Singaporean artist Ang
Song Nian represents the
controlled environment of
plant nurseries in Bangkok,
Thailand in this solo
exhibition. It includes six
installations inspired by the
artist’s observations on the
ways in which potted plants
and trees are manipulated
to fit into the urban
landscapes of growing
cities.
