Where to wed: Scone Palace
Scone Palace is no stranger to celebrations. For
hundreds of years people have come here to
celebrate significant events in Scottish history.
For weddings it offers an unrivalled setting;
you have the walls within the palace itself and
over 100 acres of land.
The Palace State Rooms are open to public
from April to October and during these
months, ceremonies and receptions can be
hosted from 2pm onwards, or out of these
months they can be held in the mornings. In
terms of space, there are a variety of rooms
that can accommodate parties of different
sizes. The Murray Rooms are perfect for
parties of up to 40 guests while the State
Rooms can accommodate up to 110 day
guests and an additional 100 evening guests.
If you do choose the exquisitely decorated
State Room, you can use the Drawing
Room for your ceremony and have your
wedding breakfast being served in the Long
Gallery which is later turned around into a
dancefloor, with a separate bar in the Ante
Room.
For something extra special you can even
have alfresco set-ups allowing you to enjoy a
wedding outdoors with the stunning Palace as
your backdrop. It’s possible to hire marquees
or tipis and have them erected here. The
gardens are beautiful and features include the
Douglas Pavilion in the Pinetum and Stone of
Scone on Moot Hill – make the most of them
by having your photos taken here. Another
way to incorporate the gardens is by arranging
a bespoke fireworks display in the grounds,
something the team can assist with, leading to
a spectacular finish to your event. Afterwards
you can retire for a night at the palace. The
venue has a five star, self-catering apartment
which can accommodate six guests across
three en-suite bedrooms, offering a special
setting for your own bridal chambers and a
unique place in which to spend the first day of
your married life.
To make the wedding planning process as
smooth as possible, Scone Palace offers a range
of packages priced according to guest numbers
and levels of service. They can include a red
carpet entrance, piper on arrival, table flowers,
votive candles, canapés, cake stand and
ceremonial sword and chair covers and linen.
