The young and super-talented mehndi
artist creates each one of her designs
bespoke. Her signature style is recognised
by its level of detail and intricacy and
commonly features flowers and swirls,
which Shaani can create on any part of
your body.
Unlike getting outfits fitted or going for
a make-up trial, mehndi isn’t something
brides test out as the stain lasts for two
weeks and you wouldn’t want to give
your look away before your Big Day.
Shaani therefore creates the design on
paper so you know exactly what it will
look like. She maintains regular contact
with her brides too, in case there are any
changes of plan or you decide you want
to alter the design.
Shaani always starts with a consultation.
She says: ‘I never copy designs, but can
take inspiration if you see something
you like. At consultation stage I will
have a chance to get to know you
and your preferences as well as get an
understanding of your skin and body type
which impacts on the mehndi.’
For example colder skin reacts
differently to warm skin so she may
recommend preparation, as well as give
after care advice to all her brides. Having
previously worked at Selfridges, Shaani
is up-to-date on trends and what will suit
you and she’s available for parties and
bridal bookings. She uses henna by Ash
Kumar and prepares it freshly for every
