HONEYMOON

WHAT: Lake fronted luxury hotel in
the UK’s most picturesque landscape
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT: Location
is everything when it comes to a
romantic minimoon and this hotel ticks
all the right boxes and then some.
An icon in the Lake District region,
set atop a hillside in the town of
Windermere, looking directly onto the
shores of England’s largest lake, it was
recently bought and refurbished by
Laura Ashley Hotels. Every aspect of
the décor is beautiful and that, teamed
with the friendly atmosphere and
exquisite dining, makes staying here a
real pleasure.
Views of the lake and the Cumbrian
Hills can be enjoyed throughout the
hotel. There are two four-poster
bedrooms which offer 180-degree
views of the lake. Directly infront of
the hotel is Bowness-on-Windermere
pier where boats leave regularly
and it’s compulsory that you take to
the waters. Whether you choose to
explore the Lake District National Park,
want to enjoy the nearby adventure
parks or simply want to go for a long
river stroll, boats will drop you off at
the most scenic sights from which to
continue your visit.
Back at the hotel, make sure you’re
hungry. Afternoon tea, and a full bistro

menu are served throughout the
day. Made with fresh, local Cumbrian
produce, the menu is diverse and
delicious. For dinner, book into the
Belsfield Restaurant, an elaborate
dining room where guests are treated
to a six course feast demonstrating
the head chef’s flair for fine dining and
creative cuisine.
From the bird print wallpaper to
the power showers and comfy cotton
bedding, there are lots of aspects of
the hotel you’ll want to take home and
thankfully, there are plenty of Laura
Ashley homeware catalogues to flick
through to get inspiration for your
own home. Don’t forget to take a dip
in the heated swimming pool, sit back
and relax in the lavish drawing rooms,
or savour a drink outside. Perfectly
positioned to watch the sun go down
on a warm summer’s evening, you’ll
feel like you’re in the Italian Riviera.
