VIDYA PATELBE CAPTIVATED BY CLASSICAL KATHAK BY

Dancer Vidya began training in
Indian Classical dance at the age of
three, now 20, she is considered one
of the most talented dancers in the
UK and last year was awarded the
title BBC Young Dancer of The Year.
Since then she has performed solo
at Wembley Stadium, toured India
and joined Richard Alston Dance
Company for their new production.
Kathak originated during the
Moghul period and has influences
of both Hindu and Muslim
cultural sensibilities. It is widely
performed around the world and
makes for exquisite wedding
entertainment. Vidya is often
booked for pre-wedding events,
mendhis, receptions and the main
wedding day and performancescan be specially choreographed to
highlight different aspects of your
event, like the bride’s arrival.
Kathak is usually accompanied
by live tabla or other North Indian
classical instruments and the
combination of dance and live
music is one that will enchant your
guests, especially in the right kind
of venue. However dance doesn’t
just have to be classical; For Vidya’s
sister’s wedding she choreographed
a flashmob performance of hit
movie song Desi Girl.
