for different cuisines is a great
way to make guests feel special,
as by offering choice, it shows
you’ve taken their needs on
board. That’s why, although we
specialise in North Indian cuisine,
our chefs are also trained to cook
delicious Gujarati, Sri Lankan,
Indo-Chinese, Thai and Lebanese
dishes.
Is it better to serve a sit-down
meal or are buffets ok?
The answer to this lies in your
venue, its capacity and your
numbers, as well as the theme.
We offer a full sit down service for
weddings as well as live stations
and barbecues. We also cater for
over 150 venues, including five
star hotels and unique venues
such as The Victoria & Albert
Museum, Kew Gardens and The
Royal Opera House, as well as
weddings abroad, so depending
on where your wedding is, we can
advise on what set-up will work
best for you. Sit-down is the most
traditional but that doesn’t mean
you need to be conventional.
Does presentation really
matter?
Yes – not just when it comes to
how your plate looks, but also the
table itself, so ask your caterers
how food will be served and
delivered. Laguna covers full
events management, so we ensure
tables are presented beautifully.
We believe it’s the small details
that add up to making your whole
wedding experience, one that will
go down in history.
How important is wedding
catering?
It’s up there with the most
important decisions you’ll make.
Your venue and catering often
work hand in hand and are your
biggest expenses. Aside from the
ceremony, weddings are about
food and feasting. Every single
person associated with your
wedding from relatives to guests
and organisers will need to eat,
and it’s your job as the couple, to
ensure they eat well. At Laguna
we’ve worked in catering for over
30 years and during that time
food trends have come and gone,
but food itself is never out of
fashion. We’ve catered for events
worldwide of all sizes and for all
kinds of weddings, and at every
one of them, food has been the
backbone.
How can a couple make sure
they chose dishes that all their
guests will like?
Some guests have dietary
requirements so find this
information out at RSVP stage.
For everyone else, food is part
of the adventure and most are
willing to try what’s on offer.
My advice is to choose food that
appeals to you as the couple, first
and foremost, and to work with
caterers who can ensure these
choices are made to appeal to
everyone. At Laguna we create
bespoke menus with a modern
twist to traditional Asian cuisine
and this is always a hit as people
recognise what they are eating,
but enjoy the variation. Opting
Weddings are a time for celebrating, so don’t cut
corners when it comes to catering. We spoke to
Amit Lamba from Laguna about how food can
transform your big day festivities...
