Breadcrumbs - EP
Alice Cooper
He’s back! He’s the man behind the mask,
and he’s out... with a new EP paying tribute
to the garage rock of the city where he grew
up, Detroit. For this six-track release, Cooper
has recruited numerous Detroit musicians,
including drummer Johnny “Bee” Badanjek,
and covered material from Suzi Quatro, MC5
and Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels.
FIVE FACTS:
- The physical release of Breadcrumbs has
been limited globally to just 20,000 copies
on 10-inch vinyl. - Cooper has reflected that for this EP, he
and his collaborators were striving for a
“certain Detroit sound” that is “indefinable”
but influenced by R&B, Motown and guitars. - The glam-rock legend added: “I feel if we
mine around with all Detroit players, we’re
gonna find that sound”, referring to what he
calls “Detroit rock”. - The covers on Breadcrumbs include
Quatro’s “Your Mama Won’t Like Me”, Mitch
Ryder & The Detroit Wheels’ “Devil with a
Blue Dress on” and MC5’s “Sister Anne”. - Cooper’s last full-length studio album was
2017’s Paranormal, but a new full-length
release is lined up for 2020.
