Practice stopping short:

Make sure your weight is left and hips are open.

MID-ROUND CHECK
If you’re not hitting
your longer irons
better when you play,
try this between shots.
Make a practice swing
at full speed but stop
short at the bottom.
Freeze that impact posi-
tion, and go through
this checklist to see
what’s missing:
(1) Do you feel most of
your weight supported
by your front leg?
(2) Is your back heel
off the ground?
(3) Are your hips slightly
open to the target?
(4) Is the club leaning
towards the target?
If you answered “no” to
any of these questions,
put in more work on the
previous drills. If you
said “yes” to all, stick
with what you’re doing.
Your shots will improve.
