L
iverpool duo Sadio Mane and
Mohamed Salah have been
in explosive form this season
and the duo are on the final
three-man shortlist for the CAF
African Player of the Year award.
Sadio and Mo were named
among the 30 nominees for the
prize and the contenders have
now been whittled down to the
two Reds forwards and Borussia
Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang. The winner will
be revealed at a ceremony in
Ghana on 4 January 2018.
A combination of votes from
head coaches and technical
directors of CAF’s national teams,
members of the organisation’s
technical and development
committee, and a panel of media
experts will decide the recipient
of the accolade.
Asked who he think would win
by the matchday programme,
Mane said: “That is for other
people to decide because I
cannot say myself!”
Mo meanwhile has revealed to
the club website: “It’s going good
for me here [at Liverpool] but I
always felt I would settle quickly.
And I think I can get better, 100
per cent. I can improve on many
things, so I have to keep working
hard and I have to keep looking
forward.
"As a team, I know we haven’t
won the Premier League for a
long time, so I would love to win
it with Liverpool. We have a great
team, we have a great manager,
so everything is good at the
club – and I am sure we can win
trophies here together.”
