Could he win PFA player of
the year?
We can't vote for our own team-
mates but he's definitely put his
name in the hat. There's a long
way to go in the season, but
hopefully if he continues in the
way he has he'll definitely be in
with a shout. That's good for us
as a team, but like I said we have
to keep helping him score the
goals he is scoring by creating
the chances for him.
What's it like to have options
like Salah, Mane, Coutinho and
Firmino playing ahead of you?
We've got options all over the
field including a few more players
you've not named. There is
quality all over the pitch and we
try to play football in the right
way by keeping the ball and
playing attacking football.
At times we could probably be
more ruthless; given the amount
of chances we have, we could
maybe score more goals, which
would help us take more control
of games because at times
things have stayed a bit tighter
than they should when we've
been on top.
We're still quite a young group
and I think we can improve on
the game-management side.
If we can work on that we'll
definitely move forward and
improve as a side.
Do Liverpool have the best
forward line in Europe?
That's for other people to
discuss. We just want them to
keep playing well, keep improving
and do as well as they can for
Liverpool. We're in an important
part of the season where there
are plenty of games coming up
so if we can keep everyone fit
and keep people in form it is a
great time of year to get a
good bit of momentum
and churn out some
results.
You want
to be in
the team
every week,
though...
Every footballer
wants to play
football and I'm
exactly the same. I
have to try to take
my chances when I get them
and play as well as I can.
In which position would you
prefer to play in?
In the midfield. I played full-back
last year and wherever the
manager asks you to play, you
do it to the best of your ability.
But throughout my career if you
look at where I've played best
- and the amount of assists
I've got playing in the midfield
at Liverpool and Aston
Villa when I've played
centrally – I think I can
contribute a lot there.
That's why I want
to play in midfield as I
feel I give the most
there. You want
to play as well
as you can for
your team and
contribute as
much as you
can. I feel I
do that in the
midfield and
hopefully I'll get
chance to do that and
help Liverpool achieve
something special.
