TKDT: Is there any way that
you are contributing to the Tae
Kwon Do industry as a whole?
GM Chong: I care a great deal about the
reputation and standards of our industry, and
I want to see other dedicated, hard-working
schools succeed. For the past decade, my student
and business partner, Master Michael Mertens,
has hosted seminars sharing our “World Class
Way” here in Buff alo for dojang owners and their
staff. Th e response has been very positive and has
truly helped many instructors to gain motivation
and new skills. We have recently launched a
new program called Tae Kwon Do Professionals
that combines those live seminars, teleconfer-
ences, and online training by both of us, as well
as my son Master Andy Chong. I know it is
the solution that many schools are looking for.
We teach eff ective systems and philosophy for
business, teaching, and staff development. Our
main message is that balanced success is the
only long-term success. Our next event is the
Tae Kwon Do Professionals Convention, which
will be held May 4th and 5th in Buff alo N.Y.
“I had the honor of being the fi rst Korean master to work for
Grandmaster Chong and to learn the World Class System in Buff alo.
Th e opportunity was priceless. I honed my skills as a teacher and
gained a greater understanding of how valuable Tae Kwon Do can
be to our students and our community. Th e experience motivated
me to create my own organization and to share the philosophy
and professionalism that Grandmaster Chong taught to me.”
