Hall of Famers in California
ALISA VIEJO, California-Hollywood was in full martial arts
force at the Martial Arts Celebrity Fest in Orange County this year.
Producer and Tang Soo Do black belt Steve Ross brought the best of
the best together at the Aliso Viejo Laguna Beach Resort on September
the 9th. “My goal is to have the martial arts action heros we all have
watched over the years teach others the tricks of the trade,” says Ross.
Cynthia Rothrock, Don “Th e Dragon” Wilson and T.J Storm (Deadpool,
Godzilla, Ironman) teamed up to teach a three-hour seminar on how to break
into the martial arts fi lm industry. Film producer and actor Art Comacho also
delivered on stunt work and what producers are looking for. Finally, a casting agent
was on hand to help prospective action stars and sign up some of the attendees.
A representative of Washington D.C. was on hand to present Th e President’s
Lifetime Achievement Award to several martial artists who were in attendance.
TKDT columnist Karen Eden of Colorado was a keynote speaker and recipient of this
prestigious award. Other recipients included GM Robert Kovaleski and Eric Kovaleski
of the Global Korean Martial Arts Federation, the hosts of the Legends of Martial Arts
and Tang Soo Do master instructors who have supported may martial arts causes for
youth in the Eastern PA region. Also awareded were Dennis Warren of Ohio and Chief
Tali yona quosa Ukuwiyuhi of New Jersey for their work on Native American issues.
Movie screen action star Cynthia Rothrock hosted the event. A presentation of
movie clips from her, as well as Don Wilson, Art Comacho and “Th e Silver Fox,”
Junglee Hwang of Korea, was shown and received with great enthusiasm.
