This is Anfield — Liverpool FC v Everton FC — 5 January 2018

(Ann) #1
play for and how much the body
can withstand on the pitch. He
knows when to take a player off
and when to put another one on
and I think that's something he
does really well.
His decision-making off the
pitch is really good because he
also knows when to give us a
bit of a 'down day' and when
to push other players because
they need that little bit more in
the tank. I think that has paid off
and it shows with the physical
numbers we come out with on a
weekend. We run a lot in games
and our numbers are really good.

That's down to the manager and
the staff because their man-
management is spot on.

What's the best bit of advice
he's given you so far?
Smile. Enjoy it! That's a big thing
because if you've got a smile on
your face and confidence about
you then you're bound to play
well in games, so that's probably
the best advice he's given me.

As a local lad going into a
derby can you sum up what
it's like to play at Anfield?
It's hard to describe what you

feel when you play at Anfield.
Every fan is really supportive and
you feel that when you walk out
onto the pitch.
We know that the fans are
behind us and we try to go
out there and just score goals,
entertain them and win games

  • which is the most important
    thing.
    If the Liverpool fans walk
    out of the stadium happy,
talking to each other about the
    performance that we've just put
in, then we're doing our job right.

Does playing at Anfield
inspire you?
Definitely. For all of us going
out there it is inspiring and
definitely motivates us just to
do better, but I think maybe for
the opposition team it can be a
bit intimidating because Anfield
is one of a kind. I've never been
to any other stadium like it so I
can't imagine any other player
has either.
I think if I was on the opposition
team and I came to Anfield I'd
be a bit intimidated because
it's got that history about it and
everyone knows it's so hard to
come here and take anything
from us.
