In the next issue

May/June brings our first Great Gear Guide of 2018, a chance to review

the key trends and products in the outdoors scene for the coming summer.

Inspiration for how to get out and use that gear comes in stories from

far and wide. We have bikepacking from Down Under, on the ochre roads

of Australia’s Top End; some exploratory climbing outside the village of

Zhagana in China’s southern Gansu province; and we head to Indonesia

THE NORTH FACE SELFIE CONTEST

It’s on again! The 2018 selfie contest is upon us

and once more we have two piles of US$1,000-

worth of gear from The North Face to give

away. The rules are simple as: just grab a

selfie in the outdoors, the more remote and

adventurous the better. Hint: Including a copy

of Action Asia is likely to win you special favour!

One of last year’s winners, Alex Ng, picked

up his goody box from a local store and then

sent us a shot of jacket, shoes and all spread

all over his desk. Perhaps he was planning to

escape his cubicle right there and then?

FIND US ON THE ROAD

If you are attending any of Asia’s

major dive trade shows in 2018, do

drop in at our booth and say hi.

We’ll be at Asia Dive Expo (ADEX)

in Singapore on April 6-8, then at

Malaysia International Dive Expo

(MIDE) in Kuala Lumpur on May 4-6.

At the end of the year, we’ll be on

home turf at the Diving and Resort

Travel Expo (DRT) in Hong Kong.

That’ll be held as usual at the HKCEC

on December 14-16.
