Dawnvale goes to market

in Manchester

Bar and restaurant design
installation specialist Dawnvale
has helped launch a new artisan
food market in Manchester. The
firm completed a fit-out project
including kitchen design, bespoke
ventilation systems and specialist
odour control at Mackie Mayor.
Dawnvale was commissioned by market operations director
Nick Johnson as part of the multi-million pound refurbishment. It
fitted-out seven of the artisanal food stalls with specialist kitchen
equipment and general wash up, cold rooms and storage facilities, in
addition to the venue-wide ventilation and odour control systems.
Dawnvale’s Craig Whitworth worked closely with the Altrincham
Market and Mackie Mayor teams during the almost year-long
project. “We started work in January and finished almost 10 months
later, linking in with other trades as the development got underway.
There were delays and challenges as you’d expert on a project of this
nature but the final overall result is fantastic.”
Equipment installed included Precision Refrigeration prep fridges,
upright fridges and freezers; Convotherm and Rational combi ovens;
Blue Seal cookline equipment including cookers, grills and griddles;
Hoshizaki ice cubers and flaker; an Inotech rotisserie; a Hobart
conveyor dishwasher; Winterhalter glasswashers; Pitco fryers;
Magikitchen HD chargrills; and Ecovery products and Franke filters.

Nearly a year after Certa Group
introduced catering equipment
logistics and servicing capabilities,
the firm has launched a cooking
equipment supply division: Certa
Cooking Equipment.
The company has already secured
supply deals with three equipment
brands: Eloma, OEM and Aurea, via
a range of exclusive UK agreements.
Certa Cooking Equipment is
providing a full sales and after-sales
package that includes demo-days,
sales and staff training, alongside
service and spare parts handling.
German company Eloma is a manufacturer of combination and
bakery ovens, while OEM is a manufacturer and pizza specialist
and Aurea is well known for food processing equipment, including
vegetable cutters, peelers, hamburger machines and mixers.
Certa director Dan Loria said: “Having previously worked in the
equipment supply sector, both my fellow director Paul Carter and
I always harboured ambitions to get back into this area once the
timing was right.
“We appreciate that there are a great many suppliers in the
marketplace but there are very few that can offer a package that
includes purchasing, transportation, warranty cover, spare parts,
service and maintenance, and we believe that this makes our
proposition unique.”

KCCJ makes it big at Bloomberg

Dartford-based distributor
KCCJ has completed a
project to outfit the dining
facilities at the new European
headquarters of business
media giant, Bloomberg
LP. Working to designs and
specifications by consultant
Sefton Horn Winch (SHW), KCCJ set about reviewing the design and
service requirements in order to install the catering equipment.
Spanning eight working floors, the installation required a main
production kitchen, an events pantry, a training room pantry with a
breakout area and counter, a back-of-house pantry and array of island
beverage units, a finishing pantry which feeds a private dining room
and a finishing kitchen for a second large-scale event space.
KCCJ installed a smart, 15metre ‘drinks wall’ which houses an array
of coffee machines, soft-drink dispensers, boiling water taps and milk
dispensers and four island beverage units which house iPad-operated
coffee machines, hot and cold water and milk dispensers and shelving.
The production kitchen in the basement was fitted out with three
Rational combi ovens, a six-ring induction hob with oven, a cook and
hold oven, a Henny Penny fryer and a large MKN FlexiChef unit.

Simon Merrick has
exclusively detailed to
Catering Insight the key
objectives for next year
at his new company,
Metro. Having joined as
European sales director
at the Ali Group company
on 1 December, he will be
leading the shelving and storage specialist’s charge to develop its
dealer network further.
“With my experience of the UK at manufacturers such as Enodis
(now Welbilt) and Hobart over the years, I am going to try and
accelerate the growth in that market,” he said. “We have got some
business going through the UK but it isn’t enough, especially when
the UK is pretty much the biggest foodservice market in Europe.”
Emphasising that Metro is fully committed to the distributor
channel, he commented: “We have a strong presence with global
chains such as Burger King, McDonald’s and Subway, but we really
need to focus on how we get our products specified into local
chains and how we approach the independent market.
“So finding the right distributors in the relevant markets is the
most important thing for us to be able to grow. We are looking
for companies who feel they might be good partners for us and
our products.”
