Independently-owned family firm C&C Catering Equipment is trucking
along very nicely, according to its financials. It can count itself as one
of the most profitable enterprises in this list, which shows that growth
doesn’t always have to come at the expense of profit margins.
The Chester-based group’s operating profits increased by 17.3% in
the year ending 30 April 2017, generating just over £1.3m compared
to the previous year’s figures of £1.1m. During the latest accounting
period, the group acquired 100% share capital of its C&C Catering
Engineers arm, following the creation of C&C Catering Fabrications in
the previous financial year.
However, turnover is down from 2015-16’s high of £15.6m to £12.6m
last year. This was due to two large contracts completed in the
previous period, but MD Peter Kitchin reported that on the whole the
company is more than pleased by the figures achieved as a group.
The consolidated accounts now include C&C Catering Engineers as well
as C&C Catering Fabrications, with those two subsidiaries helping to increase
the profit figure and to ensure that the group achieved a healthy turnover.
The kitchen house wants to be seen as a “safe bet”, and these consistent
results would certainly seem to back this up. Its long term focus has meant
it is continuing to invest in its staff and systems to maintain its standards.
Large scale kitchen schemes have become the C&C’s trademark, and
thanks to major project work gained in and around the South East, the
distributor employs project managers based in that region. Major clients
up and down the country include Google, the Tate Modern, Hewlett
Packard, and even the industry’s own First Choice Group, with C&C
outfitting the staff dining area at the spares specialist’s state of the art
new headquarters in Cannock.
