Applyfixesfirst

TheUprightcontrolsarebestappliedtorawfiles,asLightroomuses

theextrametadata– suchasthefocallength– toaidit in fixingtheperspective.

BeforeapplyinganyUprightfix it’sbestto‘EnableProfile Corrections’and

‘RemoveChromaticAberration’firstin theLensCorrectionpanel (if you forget

and do this afterwards, hit ‘Update’ in the Upright settings).

AdjusttheAspectRatio

TheFulloptionappliesa full3D

correctiontoyourphoto,snappingalllinesin

theimagetoverticalorhorizontal.Thiscan

leadtoextremedistortionwithyourimage

lookingsquashedorstretched.If thishappens,

tryfine-tuningtheAspectsliderin the

Transform panel until things look more natural.

Applycorrectionsbydefault
Somephotographersprefertoapplylensfixes
automaticallytoeveryimagethatis importedintoLightroom.
Thisis easytosetup.Simply,check‘EnableProfile
Corrections’and‘RemoveChromaticAberration’thengoto
Develop>SetDefaultSettings>UpdatetoCurrentSettings
(note this also changes the defaults in Adobe Camera Raw).

UsetheDefringesampler

If fringingis stillpresentafterchecking‘RemoveChromaticAberration’

thenclicktheManualtabin theLensCorrectionpanel.Eitherusethe

Defringesliders,orgrabtheeyedroppertool alongside then zoom in

and click on a fringe colour to remove it.

perspectiveproblems– mostnotablydistractingconvergingverticals,

keystoningandwonkyhorizons.SimplygototheTransformpanelin the

LightroomDevelopModuleandclickthrough the buttons to apply the

right automatic fi x for your photograph.
