New Canon mirrorless

anon made all the late August headlines

with a slew of new launches. In addition

to the EOS 90D (see our hands-on first

look on page 110), the world’s biggest camera

manufacturer announced a new mirrorless model,

the EOS M6 Mk II, and two new RF lenses for

its full-frame mirrorless system, plus some

firmware updates and new printers.

The M6 Mk II is essentially a mirrorless version

of the EOS 90D. Smaller and lighter than its DSLR

sibling, the M6 Mk II shares the same 32.5MP

APS-C sensor and Digic 8 image processor.

Continuous AF tracking and eye tracking is

delivered via Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF

system, and 14 frames per second are

achievable in continuous shooting mode.

The M6 Mk II’s ability to capture uncropped 4K

video betters many a full-frame mirrorless camera,

including Canon’s own EOS R, and should make

the new arrival an ideal choice for vloggers.

Street photographers looking to keep things

incognito will also be drawn to the M6 Mk II, thanks

to its dinky form factor and low weight (398kg

without a lens attached, but with SD card and

battery). The new camera ships this month.
