(Wang) #1
o you’ve had a superbly sinful year end.
Festivals and good times have been
coming to you at break-neck speed,
almost back to back – starting with wild Diwali
parties and finishing off with a big overnight bash
to bring in the new year. In between, of course,
Christmas floored you with its delicious excesses.
But who’s complaining? Your body for sure! After
all that party binging, it is time to start the new
year on a healthy note and get back in shape.
The first step to achieve a healthier self is to
get rid of all the junk that has gone into your body
over the last two to three months, and, to do that,
you need to go the detox way.

WWWWWHHHAATT IISSS DDDEETTTTTOOOOOXX??
The body has its own natural healing system
to get rid of chemicals it doesn’t want, but
sometimes, when there’s an overload, the excess
gets deposited in the lymphatic and the digestive
systems. Detoxification enhances the functioning
of these systems, enabling them to tackle waste
better, and absorb nutrients more effectively. In
effect, it’s like giving your system a thorough

spring clean. A mild detoxification regime
tunes up your body and cleanses the internal
systems to remove toxins.
But, detox doesn’t mean a punishing diet.
The main aim of the process is to help the body
rid itself of unnecessary toxins that may have
accumulated because of the daily excesses in
food, drink and other lifestyle abuses. The good
thing is that you can do it at home without
subscribing to a fad diet. Make these small
changes and be assured that you will to feel and
see the difference in the next 30 days.
Fasting or drastically cutting down food
to detoxify is not the correct way to detox.
Also, special detox diets followed for a few
days will not help much. What really works,
however, is adopting healthy eating and lifestyle
practices regularly and in the long term. Adding
antioxidants to your diet, keeping a tab on
the amount of fat you consume, cutting down
on unnecessary stimulants such as caffeine,
decreasing your intake of non-vegetarian food
and hydrating your body enough are some of the
things to keep in mind when detoxing.

WHAT DOES
DETOX DO?

  • Makes you feel more
    energetic and leads
    to holistic wellbeing

  • Gives you clearer skin

  • Regularises your
    bowel movements and
    improves digestion

  • Helps you
    concentrate better

  • Enhances your emotional
    wellbeing

  • Helps you in your path
    to inner peace and
    enlightenment

  • Makes sure you get
    rid of health problems
    in the long run

  • Changes your bad eating
    habits and educates you
    about good and bad food

Detoxifying is not about starving yourself, it is about eating the right kind of food at the right time • Improves your sleep pattern
