Housemistress – St Aidan’s
Ampleforth is one of Europe’s foremost Catholic boarding schools, committed to all
round excellence and academic ambition. This post will provide the successful applicant
with the opportunity to join us in working with students to cultivate learning as an
attitude, a value for life.
We seek to appoint a practising Roman Catholic Housemistress to start in September

The Housemistress represents pastoral support for all students within the House and is
responsible for all aspects of the welfare and formation of the students in their care. This
is a demanding and immensely rewarding role where no two days are ever the same.
The successful candidate will have a PGCE or equivalent; any relevant subject offered
by Ampleforth College will be acceptable. Housemistresses teach a reduced timetable
of about half, and many Housemistresses and Housemasters contribute to games or co-
curricular activities.
We are seeking an experienced teacher who is interested in the formation of young
people and in developing a culture of delight in learning within the house.
The position comes with family accommodation and a range of benefits.
The closing date for applications will be 26th April 2018 at 3pm.
Interviews are expected to take place on the 10th and 11th May 2018.
