AI and human
intelligence

T

here is a lot of talk about
Artificial Intelligence
taking the place of normal
human intelligence! One
wonders how this is possible
in a country like India
where millions depend
on labor to make a living,
bringing in robots to do
their job will only lead to a
serious confrontation. The
arguments that humans
will still be needed to get
the robots running does
not stand. It is only a flimsy
attempt to appease workers.

Even in IT sector
retrenchments are creating
big issues of workforce
resentment. When that
happens in manufacturing
industries, the crisis will only
be more serious. Of course,
automation is a future
reality. But somehow that
will have to strike a balance
with human needs.

Dealing with
waste tyres

W

aste tyres, like nuclear
waste, can never
be destroyed for good.
They remain to make life
miserable to one and all.
There are many ways to
make use of used tyres, but
even then, the use ends at
one point of time and the
tyre remains. One reads
about huge tyre dumps and
landfills in many countries.
The size and number of such
dumps are hard to believe.

It is like new mass graves
being discovered in war
zones with thousands of
dead bodies buried in it.
There has to be a way to
recycle every tiny bit of
a tyre into some useful
material. Experts must focus
on finding working ways to
solve this problem. At the
same time tyre recycling
industry must get more
promotion and support from
governments. Recycling of
all similar wastes must be
made mandatory.

Fuel
prices and
e-mobility

F

uel prices in India are
skyrocketing at an
unprecedented rate at a time
when in the international
market it is at a much lower
level. There seems to be
no full stops in this totally
unchecked hike. The Prime
Minister was said to be
commenting on this saying
who wants petrol and diesel
vehicles anymore as we will
have only electric vehicles
in the near future. That is
interesting.

There was also news
that petrol and diesel
vehicles will be steadily
banned to bring in more
environmentally friendly
cars and other vehicles. It
is easier said than done, but
the concern and the effort
are support-worthy. There
are far too many vehicles on
the road than what the road
can contain.

Regulations
brings in level
playing field

N

ew regulations and
mandates in the tyre
industry has made tyre
testing more important
part of the industry. This
will do a lot of good to tyre
testing companies. Tyre
manufacturers are also
giving more attention to the
testing part as tyres need
to be made without any
flaw. The regulations being
implemented in various
countries have suddenly put
the industry on alert.

Regulations, will make the
market a level field for all.
This will nullify the impact
of the so called cheap tyre
dumping because whichever
tyres are dumped need to
be good and if the tyres are
good then the game is fair.
The irony is that they rule all
markets across the world.
