Cities around the world hold light festivals that
not only give them a unique vitality under the
night sky, but also ignite the imagination of
their thousands of visitors all year round.

PINGXI SKY LANTERN FESTIVAL
Taipei, Taiwan; February–March

LIGHT CITY BALTIMORE
Baltimore, US; April

AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL
Amsterdam, The Netherlands;
November–January

FÊTE DES LUMIÈRES
Lyon, France; December
Getting to the start line
of the world’s most
famous marathon
can be as much of an
achievement as finishing it. Unlike many organised
running events where you simply pay a small fee to
enter, a minimum standard is required to gain entry
to the 42.2-kilometre race held in April every year.
For the average CEO (45.2 years old
according to Forbes), the standard is three
hours and 25 minutes for men, or three
hours and 55 minutes for women. If you’re close to
Mark Zuckerberg’s age (33), it is (slightly) higher;
three hours and five minutes for men, or three
hours and 35 minutes for women. Since registration
begins in September, it’s time to start
increasing your mileage now if you’re
considering applying.
