This spread: The
'model flat' in the exhibition
space consists of a 1:1 scale
model (30 sqm) of a
standard house
provided by state-run
housing schemes for the
economically backward
sections of society. The
model is accompanied by
images of the interiors of
actual flats shot by German
photographer Peter
Bialobrzeski. The model flat
also doubles as a space
where 27 archival films are
screened from the
collection of the Films
Division of India from the
last 70 years, and look at
housing through the lens of
infrastructural
development, urbanisation,
and inadequate state
initiatives. Opposite page,
bottom: The two infographic
charts show the ecology of
housing delivery in India and
the government institutions
and private agents that are
involved in the process
