An exhibition on S.P.A. Design’s built and
unbuilt projects over the last 20 years will
be held from 22 March to 3 April, 2018 at
Galerie Romain Rolland, Alliance Française
de Delhi, 72 Lodhi Estate, New Delhi.
The other challenge was that even if Bangladesh
is close to India, it does not have the same
manufacturing capability, and imports most of
the building material from other countries. Unlike
India, it benefited in some way to be more
autonomous and manufacture almost everything.
That became rapidly a massive exercise of global
procurement and delayed the construction.
More widely, we have learned a lot from this
project. It has genuinely improved our design
capability. Dhaka is also a very vivid milieu for
young Bangladeshi architects doing impressive
projects. The Dhaka Art Summit of 2016 was
highlighted by an exhibition of the Centre
Pompidou on the linage of architecture after
Louis Kahn, from Muzharul Islam till date.
