very inspiring business story has a genesis.
For Hannah Milward it was an emergency
deep in a Cambodian jungle that triggered
her desire to create a safety net for people working
alone and go on to develop a personal safety
mobile app.
There have been other times in the 32-year-old’s
life when she has felt particularly vulnerable too,
DQGZRXOGKDYHEHQH¿WHGIURPKDYLQJVXFKDQDSS
on her smartphone.
The jungle incident, nine hours from Siem Reap,
had a happy ending. A smartphone proved vital for
helping save the life of a medical colleague who had
been struck by a logging truck.
The other incidents referred to have involved
being followed home from work, harassed in the
workplace and an unsafe work environment during
her nursing days.
Hannah has also endured a “scary, controlling
relationship” which, after building up the courage to
leave, then caused her a great deal of anxiety, fear
and sleepless nights.
She knows what it’s like to be isolated, unsafe
and vulnerable – and this was the motivation for the
